The summer of 2011 was a full of graffitti events in Sofia. A groups of artists painted the sculpture figures of the Soviet Army Monument as American comic book heroes which attracted the attention of the world media. Young architects also transformed the electric panels along Shishman street by painting fun images and drawings on the covers.
Sofia boasts a variety of bars and restaurants catering for every taste every day of the week – there are rock'n'roll clubs, piano bars and the very popular Balkan ethnic music clubs. The visitors can taste European and Asian cuisine, as well as typical Bulgarian home-made dishes. The welcoming Bulgarian audience is one of the reasons why famous artists and musicians come to perform in Sofia.
One of the big advantages of the city brought about by the rapid technological developments in the recent years is the fast Internet connection and the free Wi-fi zones in many cafes and public areas – parks, gardens, the metro.
The construction boom in Sofia from the end of the 20th and the beginning of 21st century changed the public environment by adding new provocative, often controversial edifices varying from residential buildings, smart houses and energy efficient office buildings.
